SARASOTA: During a mission moment at Mental Health Community Centers, Inc. Board of Director’s Meeting this month; Board Member and Branch Administrator at TrustCo Bank, Clint Mallard, presented a check in the amount of $1,050 to Executive Director, Peter Howard.
MHCC offers vital psycho-social and recovery activities at drop-in centers in Sarasota, Venice, North Port and Arcadia for individuals diagnosed with mental health illnesses.
“Members are mentored with trained peer specialists who have experienced the same difficulties as they struggled to cope and learn more about their illness,” said Executive Director, Peter Howard. “With the help of professional staff, and the peer specialist program, members can become productive citizens of the community. Community support such as this assists with providing services to members in a big way.”
Mental Health Community Centers was founded over 40 years ago and has developed from a resource center based in Sarasota to four Drop-in Centers in Sarasota, Venice, North Port and Acadia that provide daily training and support programs. The purpose of the organization is to provide services which assist persons with mental illness develop the skills and coping abilities needed to lead a healthy and productive lifestyle within the community.
