Mental Health Community Centers, Inc (MHCCI) earned the 2019 Platinum Seal of Transparency, the highest level of recognition offered by GuideStar, the world’s largest source of nonprofit information. By sharing metrics that highlight progress MHCCI is making toward its mission, the organization is helping donors move beyond simplistic ways of nonprofit evaluation such as overhead ratios.
To reach the Platinum level, the MHCCI added extensive information to its GuideStar Nonprofit Profile: basic contact and organizational information; in-depth financial information; qualitative information about goals, strategies, and capabilities; and quantitative information about results and progress toward its mission. By taking the time to provide this information, MHCCI has demonstrated its commitment to transparency and to giving donors and funders meaningful data to evaluate nonprofit performance.
The organization chose to display quantitative information such as the number of members benefited by its Wellness Centers, Supported Employment program, and Peer Assisted Liaison program.
“Mental Health Community Centers stands out because of our collaboartive relationships with our donors,” said Ashley Light, MHCCI’s Development Director.
Through GuideStar, MHCCI has provided fresh information to 200+ charitable websites and applications that use GuideStar data, such as AmazonSmile, Facebook, and Network for Good.
“I encourage you to visit our Nonprofit Profile on GuideStar to learn more about how we are helping adults managing mental health” added Ashley Light. “We’re thrilled that our Platinum Seal of Transparency and the associated benefits help us better communicate our work with mental health.”
MHCCI has four Wellness Centers in the area, in Sarasota, Venice, North Port, and Arcadia. Each Wellness Center has on average 40 members. Members pay an annual membership of $40 to be able to visit MHCCI and participate in activities that help them manage their mental health. MHCCI also has a Supported Employment program, which helps adults managing mental health learn skills from resume writing to communicating with one’s supervisor and obtain employment. MHCCI’s Peer Assisted Liaison program provides members with a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist who is also managing mental health who provide them with support in the community.
