January 2011 — I’m not really sure how I learned about Beacon House, maybe through a former nurse or my mother. I had toyed with the idea of joining but never did. I have many diagnoses and when my mother passed away I was isolated and fell into a deep depression. One day I just woke up and decided to join Beacon House.
It was the best decision I ever made. The people are extraordinarily friendly and caring. I also found resources I wouldn’t normally have had. There are support groups I find beneficial not to mention the community resources I am now aware of.
Now I cannot stay away. I’m no longer isolated and I have people to talk to that understand where I’ve been. The depression is lifting and I am gaining more energy, motivation and hope each day.
